Tour L - 12 day trip The Best of Czech Republic - Austria - Hungary

1st day

Full day sightseeing of Prague. Old town, Lesser town, Hradcany castle and the royal palace, Vysehrad acropolis, New town of Prague. Grand panoramic tour of the city approx 1,5hrs a visit to the famous Strahov baroque library is also included.

2nd day

Full day sightseeing in Prague. There will be time to see more sights and galleries on this day and also there will be time for shopping. See the Charles bridge the romantic artists quarter Kampa and the spectacular VRTBA baroque gardens. See the Charles university and the St. James church , museum of czech crystal, the Moser crystal shop and showrooms, the municipal palace and its art nouveau interiors and also the Troja chateau and its french gardens.

3rd day

Full day trip to West Bohemia to Karlovy Vary the most famous czech spa.See and taste the mineral springs, enjoy the wonderful romantic buildings of the turn of the country The cream of the society, kings and queens used to come here. Arrival to Prague 5pm.

4th day

Leave Prague towards South Bohemia to see some of the most valuable old towns of the coutry – they are protected by law as historical landmarks. See the very rich collections of Konopiste chateau, which was the property of archduke of Austria and heir of the Austrian throne Franz Ferdinand D´Este. Stops in Tabor, Trebon, Ceske Budejovice (1hr). Arrival to Cesky Krumlov a UNESCO listed Prague one of most attractive old towns sin Bohemia.

5th day

Short visit by foot of Cesky Krumlov – its twisting medieval lanes and squares. See the french gardens of the Chateau. Let´s follow the scenic road to Austrian border. Lovely drive in the Austrian lake district to see Gmunden, Bad Ischl, St.Wolfgang. Arrival in Salzburg approx 5 pm.

6th day

Morning tour by foot and car of Salzburg its center and environs. A 1hr trip to Berchtesgaden a picturesque German town in the Alps region. Weather permiting a boat ride on the Kings lake (optional USD10) Overnight in Salzburg or Hallststt.

7th day

Morning walk in Hallstatt a lovely village right below the majestic Dachstein range (11000ft) Boat ride on the lake possible. Departure to Vienna via Bad Aussee, see the lovely countryside and picturesque villages. 1hr stop in Steyr a well preserved medieval town in “Steiermark” scenic route along the Danube via Vachau Valley to arrive in Vienna at approx 6pm.

8th day

Full day city tour of Vienna. See the finest monuments and sights of Vienna old town, St.Stephens, AM Hof square, the Figaro house, Belvedere and its gardens,the Charles church, the Schonbrunn palace and gardens.

9th day

Continue the Vienna touring- there will be more time to see the museums or to shop. Hofburg treasury and imperial appartments will be seen. In the afternoon refreshing trip to Vienna woods will be organised. You´ll see Baden, Mayerling, the famous gothic monastery Heiligenblut and the highlight of Austrian baroque the monastery and church of Melk.

10th day

Morning at leisure or your car will take you to shop or see the museum of fine arts. Departure at 1pm for Sopron a well preserved historical town in Hungary approx 1hr stop. Arrival in Budapest at 6pm.

11th day

Full day city tour of Budapest including the great boulevards, the Buda castle, Fishermen Bastion . most famous viewpoint, the Millenium square, the houses of Parliament, the old town and the Vaci street, the citadel.

12th day

Morning tour to see more of Budapest, St.Margarets island, the famous Gellert spa or museum of fine arts – the biggest hungarian picture gallery. At noon – just 45 min drive to the artist´s town of St. Andrews – picturesque 17th-18th ct mansions and chuches, many shopping possobilities. After lunch a 30min drive to the impressive castle of Visegrad – see the ruins and a small museum, enjoy the spectacular view of the Danube river. Arrival back to Budapest at 5pm.
